Our Story...

Starting out on a piece of the family farm in 1977, Gable Enterprises was full of promise in a booming area. In the beginning, we were building many houses from start to finish, but before long, we realized there was a growing need for Engineered Roof trusses. This was a new concept at the time, differing from the "old ways" of raftering trusses.

As the clientele needs began to shift, the engineers of the day started to understand how to transfer snow loads, and the differences required for each area. They started with Span Charts in a book that showed the reaction calculations of each web top/bottom chord under varying snow loads - each joint having a different reaction of moment/shear/vibration and "transfer criteria" to transfer the load to the bearing.

As time went on, Gable focused on Engineered Wood products, and we found our niche. We provided customers with Roof Trusses, Wall Panels, and Floor Systems as well as Beams and Columns. It was by providing these quality products and working together with contractors that allowed us to grow into the greater surrounding area in the New Brunswick region.

As technology advanced, so did we - as a relatively early adopter, Gable incorporated the use of computers to design the loads for our Engineered Wood products, which naturally sped up the design process allowing the team to get the product to the customer faster. Today, we depend on computer software to design the best product for our customers in our ever-changing climate, especially when it comes to snow-loads!

Naturally, as our design methods improved, so did our assembly and manufacturing processes. In the early days, building a roof truss started by manually calculating and measuring the angles and lengths of each component. Cuts were made using skill saws, and assembly involved stringing lines, setting up jigs, and applying a one plate gusset to each joint by hand - one side at a time! The crew would then, by hand, flip over the truss to complete the process on the other side.

Today, our processes have been significantly improved through automation and innovation. We use precision automated saws that adjust the length and angle for each component within seconds, and automated jigs with laser imaging to ensure our crew can produce your order safely, quickly, and precisely.

At Gable, we have been and continue to be committed to continuous improvement to provide the best experience possible for both our customers and employees!
